The General Manager of Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Momoh Dauda has called on farmers across the country to complement government’s efforts in ensuring food security for all Nigerians.
The General Manager who was honoured with a Chieftaincy title of Adetuluse of Ogale Land by Oba Otitoju Kolajo, the Traditional Ruler of the Community for his agency support in the development of the area, made the call while speaking during the celebration of Ogale Idi Oro new yam festival in Ijumu Local Governmet Area of Kogi State at the weekend.
The General maintained that time has come for farmers to key into commercial agriculture for massive food production.
He said the only option to overcome the dwindling nation’s economy is to diversify to agriculture inview of the prevailing sharp fall in the price of Crude Oil at the international market.
According to him “Agriculture is capable of providing employment for our teeming youths as well as boosting commercial activities in Communities across the country”
Chief Momoh Dauda said that the honour bestowed on him will no doubt serve as an inspiring spirit for him to do more for the community with an assurance that he would give the needed support towards the development of Ogale Community market, school and drainages to prevent reoccurrence of flooding in the area.
He however, reminded the community not to relent in their spirit of embarking on self-help projects as government alone cannot provide the people with all the needed basic infrastructure such as roads, food, education, potable water and electricity supply among others.
The Chairman of Ijumu Local Governmet Area, Taufiq Isah who was also conferred with a Chieftaincy title by the Royal Father of Ogale Idi Oro community, Oba Otitoju Kolajo promised to tackle insecurity problem bedeviling rural communities.
The chairman ordered traditional rulers within the local government to brace up in ensuring that peace and security of lives and property reign supreme in their various domains.

He promised that his administration will live up to its responsibility in providing democracy dividends to the people of Ijumu Local Governmet Area so as to improve upon their living standard.
The Paramount Ruler of Ogale Idi Oro Community, Oba Otitoju Kolajo in his speech, said that the Chieftaincy titles conferred on the recipients were based on their track record of support towards rural development.
The royal father promised that he would not relent in mobilizing his subjects towards supporting government’s efforts to rid Kogi State of criminalities.
“I will do my best in the sensitization of my people to live in peace and harmony as no meaningful development can take place in the atmosphere of rancour and acrimony” the traditional ruler assured.
