Sapele LG bans roads blockade for social engagements…to punish offenders

Sapele Local Government Council in Delta State has banned, with immediate effect, the blockade of any public road in the area for the purpose of organising any social parties or merriments whatsoever.
The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan announced this in a signed statement made available to journalists in Warri on Thursday.
The statement stressed that offenders would be dealt with decisively and advised celebrants to use event centres, school fields or their buildings for social engagements henceforth rather than blocking public roads.
The Local Government Chairman said, “beginning from today, the 1st day of April 2021, the council will no longer issue authorization of any guise for celebration that will result in the blockade of any public major road or tolerate same from members of the public”.
The statement explained that “the decision was taken in good fate after series of unauthorized blockade of access roads were reported in the last few weeks”.
It rrad further, “To this end, it is therefore of note that anyone who disobeys this directive will be penalized accordingly by the appropriate body.
“Celebrants are free to use event centers, school fields or their buildings for functions”.
