A fake officer of the Department of Security Service (DSS), one James Emmanuel Oludare has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command for allegedly collecting a sum of N720,000 from o prison inmate under the pretext to effect his release from custody.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Edafe Bright disclosed this to journalists in a signed press release on Saturday.
According to the police spokesman, the suspect, through his Facebook account on February 2, 2021contacted one Mr. Larry Opori ‘m’ of No. 19 Akponena Street, who is presently in prison custody, Sokoto, introducing himself as a DSS officer, and that he can secure Opori’s release from prison with the sum of N720, 000.
Opori instantly transferred the amount into Emmanuel Oludare’s Access Bank account No. 1425728133.
However, since then Oludare refused to pick Opori’s calls.
The Divisional Police Officer was subsequently contacted by the victim and the DPO mobilized his men immediately to track down the suspect, Emmanuel Oludare, who was eventually arrested.
The PPRO stated that investigation is ongoing in the matter.
In another development, on the 18/3/2021 at about 1300hrs, sequel to ongoing leadership crises in Oviri-Olomu community in Delta State in which suspected cultists were reportedly used in the attempted murder of some indigenes, the Divisional Police Officer, Otu-Jeremi Division, CSP Pius Eredei led patrol team to the community to restore peace and order.
Through cultivation of informants and discrete investigation, one Edijala Oghenero ‘m’ 25yrs old and seventeen other suspected cultists were arrested.
One cut-to-size locally made gun, one expended and one live cartridges, a battle axe, two cutlasses and fetish items were recovered from the suspects as investigation continues.
Also, on the 17/3/2021 at about 1930hrs, the manhunt for some kidnapping and armed robbery suspects who have been terrorizing the Delta State Command and neighboring states, based on gathered intelligence, led to the arrest of one Uduophori Emesiri ‘m’ aged 43yrs of Marit close Otor-Udu.
The Commander of Eagle-Net, SP Dimka mobilized Warri and Ughelli sectors of Eagle-Net teams which was led by DSP Inusa Danyaya, and in the process one silver coloured automatic pump action, with four live cartridges, three expended cartridges, a Lexus Jeep 330 black colour, Reg. No. KUJ 583 MS suspected to be stolen, one iphone, 11 Promo phones worth N550,000), one redmi android phone worth N400,000 were recovered from the suspect.
The suspect was also in possession of an Anti-Cult group I.D card which investigation later revealed as fake.
Investigation is still ongoing.
Furthermore, on the 18/3/2021 at about 0345hrs, at New Road Junction, Sapele, a patrol team from Sapele Division on stop and search sighted a motorcyclist who on seen the patrol team quickly turned his motor cycle in a desperate attempt to escape, but the police men smartly went after him.
The suspect, on noticing that he was being trailed, quickly alighted from the motorcycle and ran into the bush, abandoning both the motor cycle and a bag.
On searching the bag, the security operatives recovered a cut-to-size double barrel gun, a bag containing two identity cards of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe Oghara, four ATM of various banks. The suspect also abandoned one plasma TV tied on the motorcycle.
Manhunt for the fleeing suspect is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State Command, CP Ari Muhammed Ali has charged the DPOs and tactical commanders to ensure that crime is reduced in the State through continuous raiding of black spots, raiding of criminal hideouts and also dealers on illicit drugs notably cocaine, Indian hemp and all forms of prohibited drugs being sold illegally to youths which give rises to all forms of heinous crimes such as rape, etc.
