Manchester City look set to progress into the quarter-finals of this season’s UEFA Champions League following a comfortable 2-0 win away to Borussia Monchengladbach.
A goal in each half from Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus, sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s men.
Monchengladbach resistance was broken on 29 minutes after a sublime cross from Joao Cancelo found Silva who nodded the ball beyond the home team’s keeper.
In the 65th minute Jesus doubled City’s lead, tapping from point-blank range off an assist from Silva.
And in Italy Real Madrid edged 10-man Atalanta 1-0 thanks to a late Ferland Mendy’s strike.
Atalanta were reduced to 10 men after Remo Freuler was sent off for fouling Mendy who was goal bound.
After holding out for most part of the game Atalanta’s resolve was eventually broken with four minutes left in the game as Mendy scored the only goal.
