Nigerian Navy has appointed a new Director of Information at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja. He is Commodore Ayo Olugbode. Before his appointment as the Navy Spokesman, Commodore Olugbode was the Assistant irector – Civil/Military Relations at the Naval Headquarters.
Commodore Olugbode attended the Nigerian Military School, Zaria and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science Degree in Hydrography from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom.
He is also an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
The senior officer is a member of the Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) and the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IFHS). He is the regional correspondent for the Hydro International Journal, which is the professional journal for hydrography globally.
Amongst his previous appointments, Commodore Ayo Olugbode has served on several Nigerian Navy Ships both at sea and ashore, some of which are NNS ARADU, NNS SIRI, and NNS OBULA which was deployed for Operation PROSPERITY in Benin Republic.
He was also the Head of the Hydrographic Survey Services at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Technical Secretary, East Atlantic Hydrographic Commission.
He served as the Defence Adviser, Nigerian High Commission, New Delhi, India with concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore and South Korea.
Commodore Ayo Olugbode replaces Captain Suleman Dahun who is proceeding on Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
Commodore Olugbode has since assumed duty as the Director of Information – Nigerian Navy.
