The Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria, BJAN, the umbrella body for all journalists who cover the Integrated Marketing Communications sector in the country is set to hold its 5th Annual Brands and Marketing Conference in Enugu State, Nigeria.
The conference, which is one of the association’s major programmes for the year, is billed to take place at the prestigious Nike Lake Hotels, Enugu from November 2 to 4.
Aimed at bringing together seasoned industry analysts and stakeholders to discuss emerging issues facing the marketing industry and the country at large, the conference is expected to be declared open by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The Enugu State governor, who is the special guest of honour, will declare the conference open as he is also expected to deliver a keynote address.
Speaking on the conference themed, “Corporate Governance, Public Accountability and the Challenge of Repositioning Nigeria, the BJAN President, Mr. Goddie Ofose said it is expected to feature seasoned experts with the sole aim of proffering solutions to the various challenges being faced by the country.
“This conference is coming at the right time. Amidst various crisis arising in the country on daily basis ranging from agitation for succession to cries over restructuring, it is going to provide the platform to discuss solutions especially as it relates to corporate governance.
Other speakers at the conference include Mr. Nnamdi John Okonkwo, the Managing Director, Fidelity Bank and Prof. Tony Onyichi, Professor of Public Administration, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
The conference, 5th in the series, is the effort of BJAN to galvanize professional excellence in brand reporting.
BJAN has since 2013 organised the annual conference to stimulate industry discussions on national issues.
Held in Lekki, Lagos, last year, the theme of the conference was ‘’Mobile Money in Nigeria: Challenges, Opportunities and Threats’.
The maiden edition held in 2013 in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital had its theme as “Repositioning Centenary Brands to Align with Modern Realities”.
In 2014, the theme of the conference held in Osogbo, Osun State dwelled on “Tourism Marketing as Catalyst for Economic Development”.
The 2015 edition held in Ibadan, Oyo State had its theme as “Challenges and Prospects of Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, in Nigeria- the Roles of Organisations, Government and the Media”.
Amidst activities lined up for this year conference include novelty football match between BJAN and the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Enugu State Chapter.
