Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has joined other well meaning-Nigerians to congratulate Nigerians as she marks her 55th Independence Day celebration on Thursday, October 1, 2015.
Speaking to the newsmen, Prince Madumere said Nigerians can celebrate for having lived as one indivisible entity since the country gained Independence and became Republic on October 1, 1960 and 1963 respectively despite her challenges a developing nation, which he described as double celebration.
The number two citizen of Imo State also expressed gladness for the sustenance of democracy since its return in 1999, which he attributed to the whole hearted embrace of democratic culture by the citizenry.
Prince Madumere used the opportunity to also call on Nigerians to take Nigerian projects seriously by treating every Nigerian as one in the spirit of brotherhood for a more cohere and united nation.
He explained that the heterogeneous nature of Nigeria should be a blessing rather than a curse following their united stance in struggle for political independence and affinity in their historical antecedents.
He reminded the Nigerian public that though Nigeria at present is faced with some critical challenges ranging from economy to security, with its massive natural and human resource, it is capable of surmounting its challenges. Speaking further, he stressed the need for Nigeria as a great nation to become largely economically independent so as to realize its full potential.
He expressed optimism that with the leadership style of President Buhari and his war against corruption, Nigeria will surely get better. He noted that since the inception of All Progressives Congress led Federal government under President Buhari, there has been a lot improvements is the areas of electricity, trust to do business in Nigeria and improvement in security of life and property.
He used the opportunity to call on the people of his State, Imo to exercise patience and be rest assured that Imo State government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha is working hard to ensure that the State is positioned better to tackle its challenges especially in the area of economic uplift where the State can begin to look inward and not solely rely on Federal monthly allocation to cater for her populace.
