Excitement and jubilation yesterday greeted the assignment of
portfolios to the newly appointed commissioners and special advisers
by the Enugu state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who had last
Thursday told the appointees that there was no room for failure in his
administration.
The expression of satisfaction from all sections of the state was a
positive reaction to the propriety of assignment of the ministries to
the members of the Executive Council and consequent expectation of
the required service delivery.
Governor Ugwuanyi, in his avowed determination to ensure appropriate
governance style in all departments of his government, assigned the
functions of the Justice ministry to a seasoned lawyer, Barr Miletus
Ezugworie Eze, an Agricultural Engineer of a long-standing
experience, Engr Mike Eneh is
in-charge of Ministry of Agriculture, a renowned educationist,
Professor Uche Eze for Education, Barr Fide Ani-Chieftaincy Matters,
Ndukwe Charles Chuka for Youths and Sports, Barr Sam Ogbu
Nwobodo-Commerce and Industry, Barr Chidi Aroh-Enugu Capital Territory
Development Authority, Amb. Fidel Ayogu-Environment while Mrs.
Eucharia Uche Ofor, who has been an outstanding personnel of the
Bursary Department of ESUT, rising to the position of deputy bursar,
is in-charge of the ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
Others are Princess Peace Nnaji-Gender Affairs and Social
Development, Dr Samuel Ngwu-Health, Engr. Ogbo Charles Asogwa-Housing,
Dr Ikechukwu Godwin Udeuhele-Information, Barr Emeka Okeke-Labour and
Productivity, Solomon Izuchukwu Onah-Lands and Urban Development, Hon.
Chijioke Edeoga –Local Government Matters, Vitus Okechi-Transport and
Barr C.O.C. Egumgbe for Water Resources.
Also to maintain master-plan for continued infrastructural development
of the state, Governor Ugwuanyi assigned the ministry of Works and
Infrastructure to a tested Engineer, Engr. Patrick Ikpenwa ,Engr. Greg
Nnaji-Science and Technology, Rita Chinelo Mbah with more than twenty
years’ cross-sector experience with core competence as a medical
laboratory scientist sees to Special Duties and Inter-governmental
Affairs of the government and Ozor GAB. Onuzulike for Ministry of
Rural Development.
The same direction was followed in assigning Departments to the
Special Advisers as an experienced bureaucrat and former Head of
Service in the State, Sylvanus Onoyima is in-charge of Due Process
and SERVICOM, Engr. Abel Uchenna Nwobodo-PROJECT Development and
Implementation(PDI), Anayo Agu-SME and Investment Promotion, Dr
Martins Oke-Legislative Matters, Mabel Chinwe Agbo-Special Duties and
Inter-ministerial Matters, Mrs. Olangwa Ezekwu-Diaspora and Special
Projects and Dr Samuel Ugwu, an outstanding senior lecturer at UNN
advises the governor on Education Matters.
Others are Hon. Emeka Madu for Political Matters, Manfred Anthony
Nzekwe-Tourism Development,Mrs Felicia Chibogu Ikpeama-Social
Development, Mr Uchechukwu Ogbonna-Rural Development and Community
Relations and Emmanuel Uchenna Ogbonna for Budget Matters.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Uwakwe Abugu
says the assignments of portfolios took effect from Thursday, July
Sixteen, Twenty-Fifteen.
