In its usual manner of reaching out to the less privileged, the Bode Edun Foundation (BEF) on Friday distributed 100 bags of rice during the recently celebrated Eid-el-Fitri holiday.
Speaking during the reach-out exercise, the founder and director of the foundation Mr Bababode Edun, stated that, “it beats my imagination to know that people go to bed hungry daily in a country where there is abundance of wealth and resources.
“From my interactions with the people of this community, the basic necessities of life happens to be the most crucial things for them.”
Mr. Edun further said it is his desire to see government rise to meet the need of the people.
“The situation is dire, some can’t seek proper medical care because they lack the funds, they live in abject poverty and can’t afford the basic necessities of life. I grew up in Oshodi, I understand the plight of the people, that is why I set up this Bode Edun Foundation and with the donation of our local and international partners, we have been able to reduce the suffering of our people” a jubilant Edun stated.
Reacting to the donation, residents were full of praises for the foundation. Mrs. Sadiat Abubakar, a beneficiary of the food distribution who resides on Boladale street, thanked BEF for the donation and encourage others to emulate the foundation by helping the down trodden.
“May God continue to bless Bode Edun Foundation for bringing smile to our faces. I hope others will emulate him and start something like this,” said Mrs. Sadiat Abubakar, a mother of two children.
Recall BEF has embarked on an urban renewal project called Light Up Oshodi Project under its Rescue Oshodi Programme, installing hundreds of street lights in the inner streets of Oshodi.
