Ohanaeze Youths Council has called on Ndigbo to rally round President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, saying it would be in their best interest to do that, since his success was the success of Nigeria.
The group in a statement in Umuahia by the National President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, also called on the incoming President to allay the fears of marginalization by Ndigbo.
It said: “We urge the incoming administration to allay fears of marginalization of Ndigbo by dealing with Ndigbo and other sections of Nigeria with equity and fairness.
“Having been elected as President of all Nigerians, it is wise for him to disappoint party die-hards and ethnic irredentists, who may want him to do otherwise,” Ohanaeze Youth Council said.
Isiguzoro also urged the President-elect not to abandon his promise of fighting corruption, saying that Nigerians voted for him based largely on that promise.
“Buhari was voted largely based on his anti-corruption credentials. Any government that fights corruption is a friend of Ndigbo, since a Nigeria driven by merit and competence rather than corruption and tribalism, will favour Ndigbo. From: vanguard
