A mother of six, Omowunmi Oluwadamilare, on Thursday in Lagos pleaded with an Orile Agege Customary Court to dissolve her marriage over drunkenness, battery and lack of care by her husband.
Omowunmi, a civil servant, who lives at 12, Aranseolu St., Oko-Oba Road, Orile Agege, a suburb of Lagos, told the court that her husband, Abiodun, was a drunkard and beat her after drinking.
“My husband comes home drunk every night; he jumps on me when I am already asleep and makes love to me.
“Because of this, I have given birth to six children.
“He does not provide for their children, neither does he pay their school fees.
“I provide for them and even pay house rent,” the 35-year-old woman said.
The mother of six, aged between three months and 13 years, told the court that her husband of 13 years, had refused to change.
“He still hit me last night when he came home drunk.
“ I have told him to pack his belongings and leave the house but he would not listen.
“I am tired of his altitude; please separate us so that I can be free,” she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abiodun did not appear before the court for the fifth time.
The Court President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, told Omowunmi to maintain the peace and directed the court bailiff to serve Abiodun the court summons again.
He adjourned the case to March 16 for further hearing.
