President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 re-election bid received a boost on Tuesday as the Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere formally endorsed him.
The group met with President Jonathan at the residence of Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasonranti in Akure, Ondo State during which the group declared its support for him.
Speaking with reporters, President Jonathan said he was at Fasoranti’s residence to pay homage to the Afenifere leader.
Also speaking after the meeting, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, had this to say, “This is the first time Afenifere will be endorsing any President.”
Briefing reporters, Afenifere spokesperson, Yinka Odumakin, pointedly declared, “Afenifere supports the President’s reelection because he had the courage to convoke the national conference and we hope that he will implement the report.
“The President expressed the commitment that he will adopt the report within 12 months of returning to office”.
