A Donnier Alpha Jet belonging to the Nigerian Airforce which participated in weekend’s attack on terrorists in Borno State, has been declared missing. Daily Review Online learnt from military sources that frantic search to locate the missing jet has begun.
Our source said circumstances surrounding the missing jet are giving military authorities some headache, particularly after the successful operations in Borno and Adamawa States
It would be recalled that more than 100 members of the Boko Haram militant group were killed on Saturday after government troops fought back their attack in Borno state. The killings come a day after more than 200 Boko Haram members were killed by the Nigerian army in Konduga.
Boko Haram, an Islamic militant group whose name translates as “Western education is a sin,” gained worldwide attention this year when the group kidnapped 300 Nigerian schoolgirls. The incident spurred the viral “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign on social media.
The killings constituted the latest victory for the Nigerian military, which has been engaged in fierce battles with Boko Haram since 2011.
