Jonathan commissions Jim Ovia’s Petrochemical Industry

President Goodluck Jonathan has stressed the need for the establishment of more petrochemical industry in the country to create wealth and boost the country’s foreign exchange.

Jonathan, who stated this Thursday when he performed the ground-breaking ceremony of $1.5 billion Methanol Industry, hinted that this was the second in the country, the first one being sited in Port Harcourt.

He thanked the host community for providing land for the project, pointing out that the country needs more of such project meant to provide direct and indirect jobs for the teeming populace and reduce poverty.

Governor Akpabio  described President Jonathan as a transformational leader, noting that he has touched all sectors of the economy.

Akpabio lauded Jim Ovia for his vision in coming to site the project in the riverine area of the state, pointing out that he did so on his volition without being lobbied.

He described the project as laudable as it would positively affect the future of the state and transform the economy of the state and the nation.

The Chairman, Quantum Petro-Chemical Company, Jim Ovia said the President’s visit to the area was a further demonstration to his industrialistion policy.

Ovia the project is important to the manufacturing industry, saying that it would produce fertilizer, tyres, shovels, clothes and plastic bottles, among others.

On arrival in Uyo, Jonathan inaugurated Esit Ekid Gas Processing Plant, Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard (Third Ring Road), Idoro Road in Uyo and inspected Akwa Ibom International StadiumPIX 1: President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan performing Ground Breaking of Quantum Petrochemical Complex, Ibeno in Akwa Ibom State, while Governor  Akpabio and wife, Unoma; Minister for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Diazani Alison Madueke and other dignitaries watched with admiration.
