A prosecution witness, Emeka Ebilah, on Wednesday told an FCT High Court that the statement he made against Vincent Ogbulafor, a former National Chairman of PDP, was obtained under duress.
Ebilah told the court while being cross-examined by his Counsel, Chief Awa Kalu, that all he had written down as his statement at the ICPC Headquarters was done under duress.
“I was humiliated and dehumanised. A gun was put on my head and I was like a frog in a hole. My Lord.
“I was put in a room without an air-conditioner and was ordered by one Basil Mohmodu and Prince Hassan, to write what they want me to write.
“I had to write what they wanted me to write. I was forced into agreeing to give a bank draft of N4.4 million by the two ICPC operatives,’’ he said.
The court presided over by Justice Ishaq Bello, adjourned the matter to Nov. 5, for continuation of cross-examination.
Ebilah, who is the Secretary/member of the National Economic Intelligence Committee, Jude Nwokoro, and Ogbulafor, were being tried on 17-counts of alleged conspiracy and award of fictitious contracts worth N107 million.
Ebilah, who was led in his evidence-in-chief, Chief Adeboyega Awomolo, the prosecuting counsel, told the court on July 13 that he gave Ogbulafor N2 million directly and other amounts, totalling N28 million
