NSE market capitalisation dips by N57bn

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) declined by N57 billion on Wednesday as a result of huge price losses by some blue chips.

The market capitalisation closed lower at N11.51 trillion from the N11.56 trillion achieved on Tuesday.

Also, the All-Share Index lost 180.94 points or 0.49 per cent to close at 36,299.30 against the 36,480.24 achieved on Tuesday.

Mobil topped the losers’ table by N7 to close at N112 per share.

It was trailed by Nigerian Breweries with a loss of N4 to close at N162, while GlaxoSmithKline dipped by N3 to close at N65 per share.

Dangote Flour declined by 50k to close at N9, while FBN Holdings lost 41k to close at N15.75 per share.

On the other hand, Total led the gainers’ chart by N4.90 to close at N159.90 per share.

Champion followed with a gain of N1.37 to close at N15.49, while Lafarge Wapco gained N1.20 to close at N94.20 per share.

PZ Cusson appreciated by N1.11 to close at N37.61 per share

The volume of shares traded decreased by 29.64 per cent as 223.71 million shares worth N2.04 billion were traded in 4,950 deals.

Transcorp emerged the most traded equity, accounting for 57.56 million shares worth N82.19 million.

FBN Holding sold 20.39 million shares worth N325.64 million, while UBA Capital traded 10.07 million shares valued at N13.97 million.
