2015: UDOM RECEIVES MASSIVE SUPPORT FROM MBO, UDUNG UKO PEOPLE

The Governorship standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Akwa Ibom state, Mr Udom Emmanuel has been assured by the people of Mbo and Udung Uko Local Government Areas of massive support and comprehensive victory in the governorship elections.

This is borne out of the belief that Udom’s wealth of experience in the private and public sector both within and outside the country will be a major asset in the envisaged massive industrialization of the State.

Speaking during the visit of the campaign ship of the Udom/Moses 2015 Governorship, the people of the two communities assured that since the advent of the current democracy in 1999, the two local government areas have known no other party apart from the PDP.

Those who spoke in the two areas visited included former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Esio Oquong Udo, the Chairman of Mbo Mr Victor Antai, the Chairman of Udung Uko, Mrs Kenim Onofiok, youths and party elders as well as the Chapter Chairmen of the party in the areas..

They said that since the advent of the current democratic dispensation in 1999, Oro nation has always been PDP, and will not for any reason support opposition. They maintained that it is only PDP government that can take Oro nation to her industrial destination and recountedM that President Gooduck Jonathan has already approved the linking of Mbo and Udung Uko to the East-West road.

Addressing the jubilant crowd of supporters, the governorship hopeful, Mr Udom Emmanuel maintained that he is the only governorship candidate who has the model for the proposed Ibaka deep seaport and debunked what he described as political propaganda by the opposition, of the relocation of the seaport from the original location.

The governorship hopeful maintained that his experience in the corporate world gives him the advantage of connecting easily with potential investors in the marine sector of Mbo and Udung Uko.

He also said that he had already recommended that the industrial park donated by the NDDC should be located in Mbo.

He said he has always been passionate about industrial development in Mbo and Udung Uko even when he was in the private sector, and that made him to direct one of his friends who was interested in building a tank-farm to locate it in Mbo.

Also speaking, the State Governor Chief Godswill Akpabio assured the people of Mbo that the Etebi –Enwang road with the longest bridge in the State, wil be completed in the lifetime of his administration.

Colourful traditional dance troupes showcasing the rich cultural history of the people of Mbo and Udung Uko, were on hand to thrill and add pep to the ceremony.
