Kogi Police Command Confirms Kidnap of Six Mining workers

The Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi Command, DSP Williams Aya has confirmed the abduction of six mining workers with the West Africa Ceramic Company located at Itobe in Kogi by gunmen.

The PPRO in a telephone chart with Our Correspondent yesterday, said that it is true that six mining workers of the West Africa Ceramic Company at Itobe were kidnapped.

According to the PPRO, the Police in collaboration with sister security agencies had commenced combing of bushes within the scene of crime to ensure that the kidnapped miners regained freedom from their abductors.

It was gathered that the incident happened at the early hours of yesterday in Emiworo under Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the State.

It was also learnt that the workers were abducted while loading stones expected to be delivered in the ceramic site located in Itobe.

The suspected criminals who were fully armed according to sources whisked away their victims to an unknown destination.

One of the victim was identified as Hassan Shaibu.

Shaibu wife who spoke to Our Correspondent confirmed the kidnap of her husband.

She said” Yes, my husband was among those ceramic workers kidnapped in Emiworo. We are yet to hear anything from their abductors. As I speak to you, am confused and I don’t know where to go from here”.
