Lawmaker empowers N-Delta youths to avert militancy

It was boats and fishing accessories bonanza for some unemployed youths in the Niger Delta region on Friday as a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, splashed on them the items as part of measures to checkmate militancy in the region.
In all, the lawmaker representing Warri Federal Constituency presented a total of 19 boats to the lucky beneficiaries declaring that the gesture was “an opportunity to improve” on their economic lives and activities.
Other beneficiaries from the empowerment scheme also got 47 tricycles otherwise known as keke, 20 sewing machines worth millions of naira as well as assorted grinding machines.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the presentation ceremony held at Ugbuwangue community in Warri, Hon. Ereyitomi, further said that the empowerment will help mitigate youth restiveness and other related social vices in the constituency.
He added that it will add value to the living standard of the people both financially and socially.
The lawmaker enjoined the beneficiaries to put the items given them into proper use while promising to remain dogged and purposeful in attracting the dividends of democracy to the three Warri Local Governments making up the Constituency.
