The Clerk of the House, Mrs Mandu Umoren, presented the budget to the legislators at a plenary session in Uyo.

The state assembly, had earlier, passed a budget of N351.29 billion for the year 2013.

The legislators also urged the Ministry of Defence, as a matter of urgency, to provide gun boats and other weapon to the Naval Base at Ikot Abasi for maximum protection of the coastal areas.
This was sequel to a matter of urgent public importance brought to the house by a member, representing Ibeno/Esit Eket State Constituency, Mr Okpolupum Ette.
Ette said that sea pirates, had in the last two months, hindered fishermen and boat operators from carrying out their legitimate activities.
He said that in the past two months, sea pirates had disturbed Akwa Ibom people living within the coastal areas.
The lawmaker said that the pirates, in most cases, seized their boats, removed engines, collected their monies and sometimes killed the people in the process.
The Speaker of the House, Mr Samuel Ikon, said that the activities of the pirates had affected the economic activities of the state.
Ikon directed the Clerk of the House to send a copy of the resolution within 48 hours to the governor for action
