Foremost Orlu socio-political, cultural group, ORLU ZURUMEE, has pledged to support a governorship candidate from Owerri or Okigwe zone for the 2019 elections in Imo State .
The group made the pledge after a meeting between it and the leadership of Owerri and Okigwe zones under the auspices of OGANIRU OWERRI and OLU Okigwe.
Orlu Zurumee insisted that supporting a governorship candidate from Orlu zone in 2019 will run contrary to spirit and charter of equity, a political arrangement initiated by the founding fathers of Imo State to share political offices equitably among the three zones in the state .
It noted that it would be insensitive and wicked for any Orlu son or daughter to aspure to be governor of Imo State after Orlu will be serving out eight years of holding sway in Imo State..
Earlier, Dr Vitalia Ajumbe, President of OGANIRU OWERRI , pointed out that Imo at this point should adopt the doctrine of necessity in choosing who becomes Governor in 2019. He said Owerri zone will partner with Okigwe zone to produce a candidate that is acceptable to the three zones. He called on Orlu zone to prevail on their people to allow justice and fair play to reign.
“We are here to chart a new course for our dear State, Imo, especially in supporting a zone and possibly an aspirant whom we believe is capable of giving Ndi Imo the good governance they have been expecting.
