Oluchi Anekwe, a 300-level student of Accounting, University of Lagos, who hails from Aku in Enugu state and who was reportedly electrocuted when a high tension cable fell on her as she was returning to her hostel on Tuesday, may have had a premonition of her death.

In a post on her facebook Timeline on May 14, she wrote: “Many are born great but die unknown…..WHO ARE U? What is your identity?”
Earlier in another post on May 3 , she said: “In d presence of God, there is fullness of joy.”

Other posts read: “I wish life came with a big eraser,”; “when you are going through something hard and wonder where God is, remember, the teacher is always silent during a test.”

Meanwhile, aggrieved students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, on Wednesday, protested the death of one of their colleagues, identified as Oluchi Anekwe, who was yesterday, electrocuted on her way to her room in Sodeinde Residence, New Hall on the campus.

The students who reportedly barricaded the main gate of the university to express their grievances, however asked the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahman Bello, to intervene in the matter, as it occurred within the school’s premises.

They also prevented vehicles from coming in or going out of the school, to send home their irk.

Oluchi, electrocuted when a high tension wire fell on her in front of the Sodeinde hall of residence in the campus, was immediately rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) but was pronounced dead on arrival.

However, reacting in a memo, President of the UNILAG Students’ Union Government (SUG), Abiodun Martins, expressed the students’ displeasure over ‘unavoidable’ incident.

He said: “The University of Lagos Students’ Union regrets to announce the passing away of one of us, our very own OLUCHI ANEKWE, a 300 level student of the department of Accounting.
Oluchi, till her death, was a first class student, and a very active student in class.
Our condolence goes to her families, relatives and friends. We pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
The event that led to her death is in its entirety avoidable. We hereby call on all concerned authorities to swing into action so as to prevent future occurrence.
In this regard, we hereby declare that all academic and social activities of the school and of the students’ are hereby suspended for today and no unnecessary sound around the campus in honour of the lost soul.
The entire University of Lagos Students loved her, but God in His wisdom saw fit to embrace her.
We shall surely miss her. Oluchi, GOODNIGHT.”
