President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, has jetted out of the country to London, reportedly for a medical check-up. He is expected back to Nigeria, next Tuesday.
The trip took many by surprise, including his aides, especially as he was in his hometown, Daura, katsina State and just returned to Abuja late yesterday – Thursday.
Though the objective of the trip was not officially disclosed , an aide who spoke on conditions of anonymity said that he went for a medical check-up.
He said: “you know, since he won the election in April, he has been very busy, strategizing and receiving hundreds of visitors. Not one day has passed from April that he has not been engaged. This has not given him time to rest.
” I think this trip will give him the opportunity to rest as well as undergo his routine medical check-up, preparatory to the inauguration.
” He will ask use the opportunity to consult global leaders and rub minds with them.”
The last trip Buhari made to London was three months ago, just before the last general elections where he gave a talk at the foreign policy hub, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House London.
