At least 14 people died in an accident when a vehicle plunged into a river on Bahindi-Kende road in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi.
Alhaji Tukur Mari, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kebbi Council, who witnessed the accident, said the accident occurred at midnight on Saturday.
Mari said Birnin Kebbi on Sunday that the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle lost control and the vehicle plunged into Kende River.
He said 14 of the 15 passengers in the vehicle died.
He said the survivor, Malam Shamsuddeen Kende, was receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Dakingari, while the dead were buried on Sunday morning according to Islamic rites.
The Vice-Chairman of Bagudo Local Government, Alhaji Aliyu Zagga, and the District Head of Kende, Alhaji Bello Zagga, both confirmed the incident.
